Computational Fluid Dynamics

Year: 2007

This is a simulation of the time history of wind speeds passing around a narrow prismatic building midway up the structure using Large Eddy Simulation and Computational Fluid Dynamics. Note the alternate shedding of vortices off the building generating a crosswind response. While this technique is not yet ready for assessing structure loads or cladding pressures, it is useful for comparing minor changes to the building shape once the flow has initially been calibrated by a wind-tunnel study.
